Exploratory Computers
Hello, my name is Mr. Reppe, welcome to Room 301 Exploratory Computers.
You experiences with computers will build from 6th-8th grades.
During your 6th grade year the focus will begin with keyboarding at 10WPM (Words per Minute). Through the use of our keyboarding program “UltraKey” you will learn proper hand positioning that will allow you to be the most efficient/fast typist.
Following a few weeks of keyboarding we will begin to explore the following:
*Use of Microsoft Word and page layouts
*Presenting (In the most effective way!) with PowerPoint. Not *PowerPointless!
*Internet Safety
Your 7th Grade Year will again begin with “UltraKey” keyboarding. This year you will need to type at a rate of 20WPM.
Following keyboarding we will also cover:
*Searching the Internet
*Creating Graphics using Macromedia Fireworks
*Using Microsoft Excel to record data and display in a graph or chart
Welcome to 8th Grade, your last year at Horse Heaven. Hey guess what? It’s keyboarding time again. Now your skills have improved and you will easily type at 30WPM.
Communicating on the Web is our secondary focus after keyboarding. Your graphics design skills from last year will now be put into your first web pages.

*Web Site Design using Macromedia Dreamweaver
*Flash Movies using Macromedia Flash (If Time Allows)
